The Hindu Ruins (31)
Two distinct lingam (phallus) shrines can be made out. The ruins are about 10th century. Hindus have lived in Sri Lanka for a very long time and there are recorded Hindu earliest inscriptions.
Two Shrine Bridges (32)
The road north of the Jetawana before the twin ponds leads eventually to a stone bridge, which runs across a channel from the Malvathu Oya River. The bridge, which is sometimes hard to see as it is covered with vegetation, is a good example of the communication network of the city. A second stone bridge lies downstream.
A Stone Bridge (33)
The road north of the twin ponds. Huge stone planks are laid on tall columns, which span the river. This bridge has lasted through a thousand years of monsoons. It looks as though it could easily take an elephant.
